Rank 2 without L-M resistance modules?

Hey does anyone regularly hit rank 2 in the arena without the L-M resistance modules (Ultrahot, supercharge and mighty)? I was around day one of the reboot and still have not received any of these L-M resistance modules. I have formed the opinion that I'll be stuck in Rank 3 until I get them. Do you top rankers agree or am I just making excuses for myself?

 

would be nice if i would trade five of the eight rolling beast i have for one resistance module.. or five or the eight deleriums

You could probably hit rank 2 with max protector, I see you didn't mention that one. Also, it's dependent on your builds and who you are playing against. Many factors contribute to what rank you are capable of.

No, probably not because epic protectors aren't enough

It's possible but it's extremely difficult if you think you can get there without premiums in general.

You can thank the Combined Storage Unit for being E-M and the Combined Engine Unit (and friends) for being L-M-ly powerful.

I don't think it's possible, unless you have a lot of platinum platings on a tanky mech like a dual deso or energy free physical.

Resistances is a must for top ranks.

I got to rank 1 awhile ago with only an epic phys protector but it was very aggravating and i dont think its possible anymore due to the current state of the game

I reached rank 2 by only energy fortress with energy free heat mech and no platinum plate 

Also if I had plate instead of fortress it would be easier for me

I agree that's almost impossible without 1 LM HP-res mod at least

I did get the max protector earlier this year when it was on sell. I used it a few times on energy free but find the monkey toros works better with zero resistance.

 

I also agree with the other comment about a lot of platinum plates. If I had like 9-10 I think I could make something work for 3v3 but I only have three

Nevermind, you can in fact reach rank 2 without premium resistance modules, but only as a energy mech since both meta heat and physical mechs need resistances. My energy build was able to get rank 2 this season, without using resistances or platings.

This might not be possible though unless you can make a very good energy mech.

you have to be extremely lucky in the matchups to even get to r2 without the big res mods, or be doing pvp at slow hours

I didn't fight a lot of counters at rank 2, maybe only once or twice.

2.7k hp, no res at all, and very bad stats overall... got rank 1 full stars with 231 ap:)

I didn’t have res for the longest time so I saved my tokens and brought res offer or new res mods. If you can’t save your tokens I suggest you try to get level 250 for the max prot

I do have one max protector that I bought but it doesn’t seem to be doing the trick
