Scope Drones

We have range 2-4 drones, range 3-6 drones, how about a drone that only shoots at range 8, however, the catch is that it hits like a truck, making a selfish guardian look like a peashot.

The physical version would hit between 480-670, with 15 resistance drain. It would weigh 47 kg. Cost same as falcon 22/22

The heat would hit between 360-520, with 180 heat generation, cost 98/31.

The energy version would hit between 260-520 as well, with 230 energy drain, cost 31/98.

 

I think this would be balanced because:

It only has 1 range, and that is a hard range to get into.

The costs are relatively high.

It will often not hit, unless on a very specific build, and if the person plays it very well.

 

Lemme know ur thoughts.

I think these drones would be useless as other drones will do much more damage over 3 turns (most of the times). And getting in range is like once or twice per match.

Well, yes and no, in a 4.7 turn match (average duration), if u somehow manage to get 2 hits, it will most probably pay off, and 2 hits doesn't sound that far fetched since u have 2 turns to generate the distance, because, in contrast to falcon, u can use both action points to get into range, as u don't need to use one to fire the drone.

Meaning that it is not improbable that they are fired even 3 times each match.

It is hard to get opponents in the correct range as those weapons don't have lots of uses. I am fairly certain that most people will prefer a 300 damage shot every turn, than  a 550 shot that might happen every 2 turns.

Considering u can use 2action points to getinto range 8, it should be possible from nearly any range with the right build.

Make it 4 - 9 range and it’s decent, I personally don’t think it would work.

2-4, then 3-6... So to follow a pattern a 4-7 would be more suitable.

Besides that... i don't think the game needs more "range specific" drones.

Also... the game need no more of these "only at this range" type of weapons... and expand on more strategy side of things at mid range to short.

 

Just because of the 2-4 range i'm thinking of swapping my Electrolyte for Unreliable Protector... But that's up to decision when i fully legendary my robots.

u have to consider that firstly, scope mechs r dead.

second, this drone would be useable only on 1 kind of build

thirdly, it would require strategy and planning to use

fourthly, it is only balanced if it only has 1 range

Scope doesn't ded 

I can build 4k hp scope

Scope builds can easily reach rank 1-3 with good mod setups. I don't know what you are talking about.

So I am really curious to know what your experience is, and in what ranks that was.

my highest rank is rank 2

WarrMachine literally told me yesterday scope emchs r dead, and bobson is at ranks 4-2, not rank 1, and invicktus, sure, but he has an insane inventory.

Its still gonna be pretty useful for me
I dont have to intentionally jump or tp to range 8 just to fire the drone 

1. I use cockpit, easy range 
2. Falcon

Talking about huggers, I'd try my best to get them to a corner

Exactly my point, it would only work on scopes, but it would be extremely op on scopes, kind of like rail gun on dual val builds.
