It's not, although it is a very good weapon. It's bad against really high regen builds, especially since it only has 2 uses. Also the damage is really low. Range is also kind of hard to use unless you have something to get into valiant's range. Only thing it really has going for it is the res drain and energy drain.

Valiant sniper isn't that good anymore. UPC replaces it now. As a dual valiant user myself, the only thing it has really going for it is drain and resist drain. It has very low damage and only 2 uses. I still can't beat most energy free physical mechs, so I see don't how it needs a nerf. It was already nerfed once before. Plus, energy is dead in the current meta, there's no need to make energy more useless in top ranks. If anything, nerf upc instead.

Besides, valiant was always meant to be a low damage high drainer, your changes basically made it less unique.

I never said to rework the whole physical element, at what point did I say that? I said a nerf mainly to those physical items only. I don't know where you got the idea that I was calling to rework the whole physical element.

That's mainly for energy free physical, and you can't tell me that superb charge is balanced. I also said only some physical items, mainly rock polisher, damaged armor annihilator and superb charge since they are one of the reasons energy free physical mechs are so broken. Dual modules are a different thing.

With a new Forum, comes a new Flex Thread 👏
I call this one Flex Thread: The Revival.
I hope this new series continues to be as popular as the same beloved Flex Thread in the old forum 😄
The new layout will take a while to get used to and I"m not sure it's suitable for a flex thread but here we go again :)))))))

thread could be alternatively titled "How To Leave Heat Mechs Dead In The Water".
    I'll explain this.
How energy and heat functions practically is a currency.
in the energy type, you are spending energy to reduce the enemy's bank of energy. The goal is not simply to leave them with no energy to spend on their damage outputs (in those which require it), but also once they go "bust" you will increase your Hitpoint damage by the drain (Im not sure if you know this already since you're new, I thought I'd explain that). High drain items don't actually produce a lot of electric damage, so if you fail to bankrupt the enemy of energy you won't actually do much hitpoint damage.
when energy encounters heat, most heats will be focusing on explosive damage not heat damage. This means they don't reserve much energy, so energy are instantly in a position to combine energy and electrical damage by turn 2. however, the trade-off is that for explosive oriented heats, there is no energy currency requirewd to keey firing.
this is the fundamental difference between energy vs physical, and energy vs heat. the mission of an energy against a physical is to drain them so they have no currency to use on physical weapons or their drones (though phys do have some weapons to use once drained). with heat, it is to exploit the combination of electric and energy damage to ahcieve a higher damage output than the heat can keep up with.
when a heat fights an energy, it has two ways to prevent the energy's higher damage output from overhwelming them
    1) turn loss due to overheating, IE making the energy's "heat bank" go bust. one turn once an energy has drained your heat can mean 300-500 damage saved
    2) higher HP (a larger Hitpoint bank) which is gained through being able to Ignore energy stats
if you were to make explosive damage based weaponry require even 5 energy, even 1 energy this whole system collapses for heat. you no longer have the ability to induce turn loss, because you cant fire. and if you dedicate more to energy modules you lose your HP bank. so then youre in the situation of the physical. Yet, when you come into contact against physicals you will be torn apart. the explosive based heat cannot survive without a large HP bank.
When a heat comes against a physical, unless you are a dedicated heat damage rather than explosive damage, it is extremely easy for a physical to have enough heat to maintain an equal or higher damage output. if you can't match the HP, you're dead in the water.
and for heats, your HP comes from plates. magma mechs can't be put on claws both because of weight and practical considerations. if they had to use energy modules, they're gone.
    HOWEVER
I agree that physical mechs energy usage is far too low. the fact that a physical can viably ignore energy these days is a huge problem. they have the highest damage output of any type, because by nature they are always fusing their elemental and their natural damage output. while energy is divided between energy (elemental) and electric (natural) damage and must drain before these are combined. Heat is by nature divided between heat (elecmental) and explosive (natural) damage, and fucntions only when it can use its elemental to deny the opponent turns or by packing on enough explosive to overcome the divide. Physical is by nature united from turn one. it has no elemental damage, instead it has higher resistance drain and the highest base natural damage of any type. Nowadays, its is too easy for a physical to bank both enough heat and enough energy to efectively maintain constant fire without any fear of a shutdown, or a drain.
These 4k hp physicals are a testament to everything which went wrong.
the solution is not to require an energy cost for heat, but to impose it once again on physical.

How would you beat a rounded physical mech with dual modules as a energy or heat mech? Or a meta energy free physical unless you are a energy free physical yourself? Obviously, as a physical mech, you only need to have more health than the opponent. That's much different for heat and energy mechs, especially for energy mechs when people have more than 700+ cap and usually above 300+ regen, maybe more than 350+ with the new dual modules. Try draining that. There's a reason why you don't really see energy mechs in the top 10 anymore for that matter. Your point of physical resist drainer being premium isn't really revelant, because most people don't use armor annihilator even if it was not premium anyway because physical is supposed to be about burst damage, not doing more damage overtime like heat mechs or burst drain like energy mechs. Also, it is quit heavy. Now for damaged armor annihilator, that's different because it has better res drain and is much lighter, allowing you to put 2 of them on a mech, especially on a energy free physical mech where you basically can break their res then damage them because of their sheer health, which is very different from rounded physical.
Energy free physical can tank through almost every build because of their health. Win against energy because of health and good damage with res drainer, win against heat because of health and res, and win against rounded physical because of health. Also win even against scope builds because of health.

Go to workshop unlimited if you want to find the stats for damaged armor annihilator. The only dual modules that aren't broken is the epic one, combined storage unit. If sweetie cost energy, it would be a poorer spartan carnage. Even when it doesn't cost energy, it's still a bit underpowered, so it needs a small buff.

Wep, for rounded physical, I was talking mainly about energy/heat modules. As for energy free physical, I was talking about the new res modules since I don't think most people put energy modules on a energy free physical mech. And I agree that the new res modules can make a difference, we'll have to see about the max prot module since we don't know its stats yet, and everyone mostly uses physical and heat res only anyway. I don't think that your solutions are good, because as you said, buffing heat would hurt energy, and adding energy cost to some energy free weapon would basically ruin them, since that's their main point. I support being able to build a viable energy free physical, what I don't support is how broken it is compared to other builds. So I think that a nerfing of some physical items is good, mainly rock polisher, damaged armor annihilator, and superb charge. A nerf to dual modules would also be good, especially the energy/heat modules since they basically made energy mechs dead in top ranks, especially at a competitive level.

Plenty of energy in Rank 5+. However, none in top 5 (if that's what you meant). When people say energy is weak, it's really only at very competitive levels. At any non-competitive level, energy is fine (imo). The main reasons energy isn't competitive are:
    1) Lack of raw damage (vs. peers)
    2) New modules have made energy cap + regen easy to get
    3) High hp builds can get away with using no drone to still win fights as most energy builds are 3k hp or less
Physical by itself isn't that strong, but with the rise in new high hp high resist builds, it just comes down to sustainable damage per turn. We all know physical spits out highest damage per weight, so naturally you will see physical become dominant. In the past, weight limits didn't allow physicals to get up to 4k and still be rounded, but new L-Ms dropped weight and allowed for it. Additionally the new L-M backfire resist drainer was a big buff to physicals because now they can output really high damage over time; without those resist drains, physicals aren't that strong.
Heat used to be meta as you could overheat people reducing their playable turns, but now that doesn't matter as the hp gap is too high even if physicals waste turns. Energy used to be alright as it was harder to get energy cap/regen, but now new mods that's a cake walk. "Rounded" builds beat energy nearly 85%+ of time.

If you just buff items, soon everything will get powercreeped and buffed, which defeats the purpose. The problem with the meta isn't that energy and heat is too weak, physical is just too strong. Mainly because of dual modules, energy free saws, superb charge engine, and the backfire physical res drainer. Physical was still good before all of that. There were a lot more diversity in the meta before all of those items were introduced.

Hi! I´m Wepwawet on the previous forum and Nefertary Meriten-Mut is my nickname on the game. I started playing in March 2016, I was going through a period of work stress due to overwork and Supermechs helped me distract with something new, since I had 0 experience in multiplayer online games. I thought it would be temporary, but the stress passed and Supermechs stayed.
My real name is Nancy and I hope to have a fair, transparent and equal opportunity game for all. I would like to help improve the conditions of the f2p player.
I also have a project to make a blog to relate my personal experience in the game.

    Cheers!

    As a top player
I've came up with lots of different unique builds through years and years of playing.
If you ask me what's my most iconic build all time.
    I'll put this build here:

It's not only a strong and unique energy build, but represented myself, and my characteristics.
It's not only an energy drainer, but also a damage dealer. When you face it, you only got two ends - being drained by vailants and upc, or get destroyed by bunkers. Escaping from it is not a thing here, no matter how far you go, you have no chance to get out of the death range. Don't ever think that you can ever found a blind spot, you will only have one end - turn to ashes.
This build brought me 9 solo medals on 1v1 seasons, before the unbalanced combined modules came out, almost nothing could beat it - It started a new era.
Not everyone could drive it, some people copied It from me, ended with bad results because of their poor skills. Successes came only when a legendary pilot met a legendary build.
Unfortunately, It had huge trouble to beat meta energy free physicals, even with new modules' help.
But most importantly, It will remain forever in my heart.

1st mech: Energy mech with dual valiant, I used to use sparked runners and emp, but I decided that having more health as well as a hammer allow me to fight better against huggers. And that is a piercing fox hidden by that hammer.

2nd mech: Classic old meta dual spartan build. Not much to say really.

3rd mech will most likely be a dual deso.
