Alexander got a reaction from OKI DOKI in So, I am Alex and I sort of run this
Hi guys 🙂
Let me give the good example and introduce myself!
My name is Alexander but everyone calls me Alex. I am 28 years old, I am into sailing, ski-ing, reading, writing, anime/LNs, games and cooking. I started playing a game called BattleDawn back in 2006 when I was 14 and was asked to help test SuperMechs by a BD Admin back before it was public and just kind of stuck around. I lead a team called NCR (New Corgi Revolution) in Battle Dawn with Josh (Malicewolf) and am a member of the Shiba Revolution in Super Mechs.
I studied Software Engineering, but frankly I find most things interesting.
Some years ago I was hired by Ilona to be Community Manager (we talked a lot and she suggested I apply if I really want to improve BD/SM so much, so I did), she however didn't stick with the company after that so I had to kind of learn the job on the spot on my own. And take parts of her job (Product Manager) while at it. This went pretty well and I formed a pretty natural gear in the SM and BD teams, but when the SM Team grew it became harder and harder for me to feel like I was making a meaningful impact. I went to Michael (Tacticsoft CEO), told him to either give me something else to do or I'll have to walk away eventually. He asked me what I want to do then and I offered to take over Battle Dawn instead, which was orphaned without a manager and close to a shutdown.
I took it over, it went pretty well, Battle Dawn didn't get shut down, grew a lot. We recruited Josh and Elcent who are awesome human beings and eventually Michael passed me onto a guy who was buying the rights to make a Battle Dawn sequel. We got along and after spending a lot of time discussing with each other, we decided to buy Battle Dawn itself as well. I re-recruited Ilona to the team (sadly she left a while ago again :P) and re-recruited Simmen, Gato Games was born.
We improved Battle Dawn's servers a lot, I got the title of CEO, we recruited Gaurav, Fluffeh and Kenny and eventually got a chance to buy Super Mechs... Which at the time we couldn't. Got another one and this time we could and did.
So yeah, here we are and here I am. Please be nice to me. 😛

You can't play on chrome web any more whatsoever, Adobe Flash player is not for sale.

Alexander got a reaction from Monke King in Multiple accounts
Interesting you're making these claims since you pointed out so vocally just a couple of months ago that Tacticsoft was pointing to our Terms of Service (which dont even include SuperMechs) and I had to point out they've been doing that since before we bought it and simply never updated it....
Tacticsoft's part on it by the way. May be missing something, but I am pretty sure this is the passage. It forbids making more than one *mech*. So ye be warned, 2v2 and 3v3 cheaters, bans are coming for you!
It's fair to say never in TS history has TS *ever* banned for multiple accounts. We're not straying for that policy for the simple reasons that,
A. It's impossible. SM has too many players and its 2020 - people know how a VPN works. People play from schools too. Banning all public IP's would destroy our playerbase for no real purpose.
B. Its undesirable, it sucks for ladder rankings yes, but it also makes the game more fun for literally thousands of players. Not going to suck the fun out of these players' gameplay without offering better ingame alternatives to circumvent stringent inventory and divine limits to make the ladder better for the 0.01<% of our playerbase who plays it. As much as we love that particular part of our playerbase as they make up our solid core. 🙂
C. It's unnessescary. For all the complexity and so on with banning it, if a player with a wallet comes around they can pay someone to lose to them IRL. Good luck duking that out. We had someone employ people to play for him on BD before, if the system is solid enough on multis but not on general boosting I suspect we'll see an advent of that behavior.
Instead, stop wasting time obsessing over the same useless legalese that allows us to ban anyone just for the heck of it (read the bottom 🙂 ) and pointless arguments on multis folks. Many enjoy them, but most importantly if we'd start banning for that we'd have scarcely little players left in our core even if there'd be some effective method. Instead make new suggestions on an actually useful, fruitful topic: How to change the arena so it encourages and rewards really challenging battles and not behavior like "boosting", which is toxic for competition no matter what angles it comes from - legal or otherwise.

Actually, I'll make time for it if needed. If people want to host a tourney, take it seriously and get sufficient people on board, I'd be glad to give it a small push if I can and give an appropriate reward for it. 🙂

You really should be doing school work at school, you know. 😛
You can play it from a smartphone, obviously.
You can also use https://flash.puffin.com/http://supermechs.com/?hideall but its not ideal.
But yes, if none of the things here:
work, you'll just have to do something else. We've no plans currently to release any alternative for the web.

Alexander got a reaction from Killer gamer 22322 in Thanks for the nerfs Alex!
Hey, it is a slight nerf (as its damage per source was much higher than other weapons) but it's still a really good item.
The biggest change is that it no longer feels like bullcrap to fight one (or with one) as it's much more consistent. 🙂
