Legacy players: do you think shields matter in this game any more?
Would you be willing to part with shields if you got other rewards?
    Please vote and/or comment.
This poll is attached to my idea about using the shield slot for something else like a drone or feet cosmetic, but I just wanted to get opinions.

This is probably going to be the most unpopular thing I've ever said, but the inconvenient truth is that those are school property and you should be paying attention in school.
If you must, think of it this way: better grades = better chances of a better job / college = more money to play games.
And be glad I'm not your school IT staff, I'd lock those things down so tight you could hear Windows 10 crying. 😄 I used to work on laptops for the military 😄

To be fair, IF the reload of legacy items works properly, i.e. they are equivalent in power and not overpowered or underpowered, the next thing they could do is "sunset" the legacy items.
I.e. at a certain date, everyone who has the old legacy item, this item is transformed into the new reloaded item, and it's already divine.  That way no one gets shafted.

With all due respect, I'm not the only one who's tried to tell you this.  And whether you or I liked or disliked CleverName is irrelevant: having entirely divine mechs is a huge advantage.  Think about how many times you've won or lost a game by less than 100 hp or less than 100 damage and you see my point.  Whether we agree or not, CleverName proved that having the ability to divine everything you have gives you a very clear advantage.  And being 5% faster in sprint speed in the Olympics will mean you win gold.  As you get into the very top of the game, every single hit point and every single damage point matters.
Bottom line, me and several other top ranked players (1-5) have told you that having tons of divines DOES make a difference.  You are legendary for your skill in 3v3 heat, and you're probably better at playing this game than I am, but this is one place you're incorrect.  Sorry man.
Besides, I hear from some people that you have divines.  If you think they're not relevant, why do so many of your weapons glow?
Ok, so do a test.  Go an entire month without using any divine items and catalog your fall from rank 1.

    I mostly agree with you.
But some legacy items DO give legacy players an advantage.  And it's technically unfair because someone who never played legacy can't get the items.  This is part of the tendency to give away accounts (ToS violations, etc.).  So I think legacy items should get "reloaded" like Alexander once thought of doing.  Reloading legacy items would give us plenty of portal opportunities and add variety to the game.  "Reload" the legacy items that matter, trash the rest, which should free up sprite space in SM for new items (yes, that was an assumption).
With all due respect, too, many legacy items look fugly.  Especially the modules.  So in reloading them, making new or "refreshed" sprites would help.
But your idea is good also.  And to be fair, you're the expert because you've played SM since it was beta.  Me, I have only been playing one year.
If I may now make a general statement (not at you, Mechzilla), I'm totally against bringing shields in.  Why not make that slot a new cosmetic slot for things like Sabretooth legs (to complete your Sabretooth torso and to hide what you're using), drone cosmetics (hide what drone you're using), etc.?
To me, resistance makes more sense if you think of it as being shields.  I say we leave the shields aspect of Legacy alone and retire the concept.

Or you can join a clan that don't have drama.
Like, if we think of clans like the knights of the round table, they weren't perfect, but there wasn't a lot of drama usually.  Or if we think of clans like a military unit, even if they aren't perfect, usually there's a lot of cohesion and caring for each other.
That's what clans should be.  That's what Reign has been to me, and what I try to do in my own clan.
Why would you stay in a toxic clan?

I completely support this.  If anything, I think the arena buffs should be increased.  Even if the next level on items other than the HP buff cost 1000 arena coins, or whatever 2x the previous buff cost was in coins, I think it's better than not having it.
As for XP, I am tempted to say XP should become gold when you farm the campaigns at campaign rank 250.  Sort of like energy drain becoming damage when you drain your opponent dry, so XP should become gold.  It makes farming worth it.  I note that there are some top rank players who have said they don't farm the campaign any more now that they are at level 250.

Why would you want to be in a relationship with a woman who DOES NOT LIKE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE?
    Sorry, but still, why?
Anything based on looks, relationships or careers, will eventually fall apart, just like your looks and your body.
Trust me, you want a relationship with someone who values you for who you are, no matter what you look like, because looks ALWAYS fade.  Ever seen Ms America reunions?  Looks fade.  We will all lose to the enemy of entropy.

Sorry, that's insanity.  If you do that, people will then complain about feature creep or power creep.
To a point, sure, power creep is the reality of warfare.  We're always trying to build (in the military) newer, better planes, tanks, bombs, missiles, guns, etc.
As for the "10 turns to end a battle," that's like lower rank stuff.  I don't think we need to worry about changing how many turns a battle takes, especially because then you start a cascade of then having to increase the # shots you get from weapons and such.
I would vote in favor of buffing Zark, but your argument isn't very compelling, to me.  All the torsos are more or less within 1% efficiency right now.  I don't see a need to change any of them, except maybe EFA (slight HP buff but then make it 0 energy and 0 regen).
It starts taking less time as you upgrade your base.

No thanks.   First off, reducing weight is not a nerf, it's a buff.
Second, no, we don't need yet another torso in the list of top torsos.  All the torsos in this game are already only about 1% different from each other.
There are already torsos that do what the Zark would do in your proposal.  Therefore you'd just be making Zark equal to another torso, so why bother?
I want your ideas, and I'm not trying to discourage you, but I don't think SM needs yet another torso to get buffed.
I think we need new torsos and items.
Maybe I'm wrong.  Maybe I'm right.

I can agree here, 1 or 2 tokens per win for the 5 daily wins shouldn't be a lot to ask.
I would argue that it should be like 5 tokens, but whatever.
As it still seems to take people a year to reach top ranks (paying) or longer (not paying), tokens for the 5 daily arena wins makes sense to me.
In terms of general game design, I question a game that takes people longer than a year to reach top ranks.  I think this would help fix what I view as a problem with SM: it shouldn't take F2P players more than a year to reach top ranks.  Maybe it should take F2P a year to reach top ranks (like exactly a year, playing the game one hour a day every day).  Then P2W status would be to get to top ranks faster than a year.
With other games I've played, it's taken less than a year to reach a level at which you don't feel you are limited by a lack of items or weapons.  Like TF2.  Like BL3.  DLC or payment should only be for the impatient, in my opinion, and there are plenty of people who are impatient so business should still be good 🙂

    But think about that.
    That's 1,826 hours.
If you take the example of an adult that has other commitments who can only do 2 hours a day, if we do math, it will take them 2.5 years.
Whereas the wife and I beat BL3 on easy in 1 month, and will beat it on Normal in 1 month, and then move on to mayhem levels just to get some nice weapons (all of which drop at mayhem level 5).  So for Borderlands 3 it would take 7 months to reach the maximum of what the game allows (comparable to being rank 1).
Let's be honest: in today's modern societies, not many people have the patience to grind on a game for 2-3 years.
I'm not saying this to be a jerk.  I'm saying this so that we start thinking about how we can improve SM.

It would have if I had stayed, yes.  It's not hard to see the 5% increase in damage and armor that having divine premiums would bring.  Like, all premiums, from MPV to Mercy to Distance Shredder.  Think about it.
To be fair, if the portal we just had is something Alexander keeps doing, what I said about clan rewards may change.
But the fact that you're saying this and you have been playing SM this long tells me you're biased. Because I know you've won matches by 1 hp or less than 100 hp. That extra 5% a divine gives you can very much spell victory in a game where weapons are RNG based.

    AHAHAHAHA
My experience and the opinion of other people disagrees with what you just said.  My clan got to about #85 in the game and the rewards were still A/B/C/D box, not very impressive.  Twelve months in my own clan got me 5 legendary ascension relics.  Three weeks in Reign Forever and I got 5 legendary ascension relics.  Top clans get nice rewards, and that's exactly why people want to be in them.
The rewards are very different.  It's not about ego, although that is part of it.  It's about rewards.  You can't get ascension relics anywhere else that I know of other than clans.
    Sorry man, you're wrong.
I agree with the Mechzilla fix here: make ascension relics the same as other items in terms of premium packs and boxes.  If people can get ascension relics at roughly the same scarcity as premium items in premium packs, this will take a lot of the incentive to be in a top clan away.  Until the tabbing fix, that was going on in top clans, based on reports from people who left those clans.  I'm not mentioning names.  And I wouldn't be surprised even if some top clans are still cheating and we just don't know how it's done.
    Then there's also boosting.

    Our requirements:
Rank 10 (but we have a padawan program for those who aren't rank 10 or higher). Five daily wins or 35/week. No smurfing, hacking, or boosting. Titan fights optional, but must farm 50 tickets or more to be allowed to fight the titans (to prevent moochers). Clan wars mandatory.

Being in a top clan that gives you one S box a week is phenomenal. I can attest to this being in a top 30 clan getting A/B boxes and a top 5 clan getting S/S+ boxes both for approximately a year.

Though I do agree with you that top players become noobs. With my experience, the lower ranks show a lot more strategy than the mid-high ranks do.
