  2. I'm only arena rank 10/11. I personally don't like a drone I got to keep activating. I used to despise Firefly because it is range 2-4 until I tried it, and until I saw it on the META thread. Now I'm a Firefly user. Nope, I'm type A and an extrovert. I know I'm wordy but I really try to work on being brief.
  3. I would suggest having one of each: physical, energy, heat. But that's just my opinion.

  5. Yeah, I agree. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but mine is that this would be a step too far. I think if the weapon is going to be nerfed, we should be more conservative as to how much we nerf it because nerfing is always unpopular. The person I faced in the arena with dual Frantic Brutes is probably not going to like their weapons nerfed. But if we nerf them as little as possible, that may make less dual Frantic Brute players less likely to rage quit.
  6. I respectfully disagree with anyone who says there's only one real solution. There are many different potential solutions. I'm not saying you aren't welcome to share your opinion. If anything, I'm encouraging everyone to share their opinion. But I don't think there's any solution that is the only solution. I think there are multiple potential solutions, and Gato Games will decide which is the best.
  7. I didn't read anything except the last paragraph. You're the one who thought my comments were a threat. And you were the one who challenged me. I never thought your comments were a threat. And your behavior, if anything, only made it even more clear that you're not a serious threat. I called you out on your hypocrisy and you doubled down. I'm not interested in talking to someone who can't participate in brainstorming without attacking people or feeling threatened. But hey, I guess it was time to test out the forum settings.

  9. You don't find it ironic that you're complaining that people don't take other views into consideration but you're complaining about my views? I don't know where or how you interpreted what I said about an IDEA about a WEAPON on a GAME to be a threat to you. Here's a life hint: if you don't like my idea, ignore it. This thread is about people sharing what THEY think will help fix the Frantic Brute. There's nothing to "back up." This is a brainstorming thread. You're coming into a brainstorming session like a bull in a china shop. If you want the free flow of information, then don't come in here and try to silence people. Honestly, I laugh at issuing challenges over hypothetical nerfs because we can't test these out in the arena, so your challenge is both irrelevant and impossible. And don't say "well I'll only fire my spartan at you twice." I don't know you: maybe you are honorable and I can trust you to do that. But given my OTHER experience on the arena, almost no one honors their word, so forgive my skepticism. But even then, there was no challenge being issued to you, so why are you interpreting it this way? If I want to test out a 2 shot spartan, I can use WU to test it. That wasn't the point, and no one is challenging you.
  10. Yeah, I know. But for now I'm holding on to it because I am grinding and upgrading a substitute. And at least for the campaign huggers, it's effective. My magma recoiler is like maybe level 28 legendary but my hammer is mythical level 30 so for now I'm holding on to the hammer. What I'm kicking myself over is fooding my viking hammer But anyways, I'm just holding on to it for now, mainly for campaign clingers. I have some changes coming. My heat mech may transition to energy free soon.
  11. No, we're not. PC version still works extremely well. Alexander already told everyone that flash going away won't apply to the PC app, and it won't apply to the phone apps either. With all due respect, everyone, please stop. Alexander said it will continue to work.
  12. It still does. I can't speak for 1-5 arena ranks, but look at the dual valiant sniper mech. Two X 2 shots X potential of 240 drain (with arena shop buffs). Four shots of 240 (i.e. 960) is better than one shot of 412. And that's two valiants = 102 kg versus one 70 kg EMP. EMP has its place. But saying something is ineffective just because no META are listed that use EMP is like saying Savagery is ineffective because it's not in the top ranks. Come over here to rank 10/11 arena: EMP and Savagery are still useful here. That's like saying the .22 rifle is ineffecive because US military uses M4/M16. (I carried an M16 in Iraq). It's not that .22 rifle isn't effective for civilians who hunt game that's smaller than a deer. It's that the military doesn't think it's enough power to equip everyone with it. I'm sure there are some special forces and odd tactics uses for .22 such as survival uses, but just because it's not the main thing don't mean it's not effective. In fact, it excels at survival use where .223 (M4/M16) does not, in that it is compact. Same for the FN P90. Just because OUR military don't use that rifle doesn't mean it's ineffective elsewhere in the world. Saying this is what we call splitting or "all or nothing" thinking. It's not logical. EMP doesn't need to be buffed. And before you say it, Heat Bomb does not need to be buffed either. META is about finding the right combination that is most effective for you and the majority of top rank 1 players. That's just how it goes. People told me energy free armor was ineffective and needed to be buffed, so I was thinking about using it for mythical food. Glad I held on to it instead, because a week later, the META thread came out, and now I know how I can use it. Just because it's not useful for you doesn't mean it's not useful for someone somewhere.
  13. ALL? That's freaky. Aren't massive legs E-M? I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm just surprised. Maybe this is why we need the gifting system But seriously, there's some items on the Meta posting (CleverName) that are E-M.....................
  14. With all due respect, I just had a conversation with CleverName and there's a way to do variations on things, such as electric hugger with saw. Why not do this: 1) First, achieve rank 1 with something that's meta, then 2) Experiment with builds using the workshop "team" function and then maybe you'll design the next new META everyone uses? Still, it's your life, do what you want.
  15. Look, I stopped using EMP after my first month of playing SM. For the first month, sure, I ran around doing the charge + EMP combo on people. But as I gained rank, people gained energy capacity, and it became ineffective, so I stopped using it. That doesn't mean EMP needs to be nerfed or buffed. It simply means people decided to use a different method of draining people. (I say this mainly to L4K3) Please check the META thread CleverName so kindly made for us. Dual valiant is more the rage. These decisions people make are done through experience, not simply because a weapon is ineffective. EMP is effective, but just not so much for the higher ranks. And there's also energy-free builds (like the EFA torso one I'm drooling over). I think it's that EMP is not ovepowered, and/or the end-all uber-bomb, is why you don't see it in upper ranks, not because it's ineffective. There's still someone at level 10/11 arena going around EMPing people. Sometimes he beats me. Sometimes he doesn't. My personal choice was that EMP is too heavy AND one use to justify it. I can build up my regen and capacity to the point that I can withstand one divine EMP and one divine Hysteria. And that's about all anyone is going to run around with because using a 70 kg EMP PLUS all the other weapons you'd need to be viable in the arena at higher ranks is simply not possible. I can't speak for arena ranks 1-5 but I can look at the meta and guess that this is why. Or you could go over to the META thread and ask CleverName to explain why it isn't used at upper ranks. My guess is all the weight used in modules to get 3-4K HP sort of detracts from it being used.

  17. @CleverName I don't know if anyone has ever asked this question, so please forgive me if it's been asked before. Is there any reason why an energy version of the physical rounded, such as the one below, would not work in the arena?
  18. The only item I can agree to nerfing is the frantic weapon family. They should all be more or less like two shot Spartan Carnage weapons (thus, Spartan Carnage stays premium). No other weapons or items should be nerfed in my opinion. Nerfing is far too unpopular to consider doing it across the board. I adressed buffing torsos here: I would agree that all weapons and drones should require at least 5 energy to operate. However, that would require nerfing many items, so I am against that. I would be willing to entertain buffing energy items, but only enough to be competitive. This is harder to do, as you can't just arbitrarily give them all +5% on all stats. Gato Games would need to create a SM test server (separate from the SM main server) and get some people to test this out. If we buff energy items too much, they will become the main META. That's not what we want. We want all elemental concepts (physical, heat, energy) to be more or less equal. But the amount we need to buff energy has decreased because now there is a top 10 arena player who runs energy. Please see the META thread:
  19. 100% agree. All top items that can upgrade to divine are easily better to the rocket launcher and its common tier cousins. With all due respect, no, don't buff rocket launcher. You want a rocket launcher? Get a delerium, iron frenzy, spartan, etc. get basically anything but rocket launcher. Same for rapid destruction: no buff, get something else. When I see someone with a rapid destruction in the arena, I laugh, and I win.
  20. I would say the F2P boiler config is best at this point. However, see the thread below for your LONG TERM goals. So for short term, the F2P combo of Savagery, Corrupt Light, and Magma Recoiler is probably best. I also prefer, in the lower ranks and in the campaigns, to have the Flaming Hammer. Flaminator might be nice instead of Corrupt Light BUT it requires that you have quite a bit of energy capacity and regeneration because it takes 110 energy a shot. Therefore, I cannot recommend it at the lower ranks. Try to get your heat capacity and energy capacity to 500 and your regeneration and cooling to 300. As a heat mech, battles are decided on a couple of factors. First, how fast you can fire your weapons to overheat your opponent and second how much heat you can survive against another heat mech. You're racing to overheat other people before they either destroy your hit points (physical), your energy (energy), or overheat you (heat). I recommend maybe 3 heat engines, 2 energy engines, 1 mass cool booster, and 1 mass regen booster. Then for the arena, one iron plating, or for the campaign, one savior resistance. Upgrade your engines and mass boosters to at least the same level as your weapons, but upgrade your weapons first. For example, first weapons to level 1 legendary, then modules to level 1 legendary, then weapons to level 40 legendary, etc. My mech is fractured heat armor, massive lava legs, savagery, corrupt light, and (now) Magma Recoiler and Firefly. I've always had my Flaming Hammer but I am looking to swap it with a Terror Blade when I get one. This configuration got me into rank 9 (I average rank 11). I also beat the 1V1 campaign on insane with this configuration. This link below is long term. In my opinion, only those items you see below deserve to be upgraded all the way to Divine, if that's your eventual goal is to be rank 1-5. If you don't have that goal, the F2P items such as savagery, hysteria, corrupt light, malice beam, etc, work fine together. For example, I stopped upgrading my Flaming Hammer, Savagery, and Corrupt Light (they're about level 30-35 mythical) and I'm focusing on my Firefly. But of course I'm upgrading multiple things at once. Here's a picture of my current heat mech (configured for CAMPAIGN, not the arena). For the arena, I have a lot more heat capacity and cooling.

  22. My arena rank. I'm trying to start migrating to meta. I don't have enough of the pieces yet, but I'm trying. Like replacing my mythical flaming hammer with a magma recoiler. And upgrading my energy free armor and basalt dissolvers. I tend to move things early, which results in a dip in my arena rank.
  23. Rank 9 rewards. That's going to change because I recently began converting my heat mech to a magma recoiler.
