    how about this?

    Nope.  Multiple problems:

    1) You should go with energy drainer.  Ultra bright isn't going to be as helpful.

    2) Your heat needs to be at least 625 capacity and 325 cooling.  350+ would be even better cooling.

    3) There's no reason to use The Claw on a mech like this, it's pointless and all the HP in the world isn't going to matter when a heat mech finds you with that low a cooling.

    4) Nightmare is not a good torso for energy mechs unless you have lots of combined modules.  So, no, use energy monkey or lightning platinum vest.

    5) Don't bother using rock recoiler on an energy mech.  Use lightning recoiler.  You need synergy.

    6) Resistance needs to be higher.  Do you have any premium resistance?

Here, in my opinion, is a better way to do this type of build:

But even then, this build won't go far due to the stats that top rank players have.  So here's an even better build if you don't have premium resistance:

(You can use Naga torso if you don't have rusty energy armor)

Or if you want to be able to at least survive top ranks (i.e. premium version),

  2. All,

I'm opening up a recent topic of conversation on the Balance Team (or what's left of it) and a recent thread:

    https://community.supermechs.com/topic/1768-the-rank-5-lock/#comment-22444

The conversation centers around increased protection against smurfs for lower (under 10) ranks.  I would propose that we add a rank 10 lock, similar to the current rank 5, so that it takes would-be smurfs 2 seasons, not 1, to drop in rank to reach those.  Please vote accordingly.

This should not prevent those who like to de-rank prior to top ranks 3v3, so that won't change.

As a side note, smurfing is not limited to just rank 10.  It's just that I think the majority of smurfing is under rank 10.  If it's been a while, try making an alt and then playing it for a week to a month.  Note all the smurfs.  I think this smurfing hurts the game and may cause players to quit.

But I say this noting that some people are smurfing in top ranks.  What they do is stay at rank 4-5, even though their account could reach 1-3, in order to get "easier wins."  This makes it a royal pain for someone who accidentally makes rank 5 before they're ready: now they're fighting people who should be rank 1-3 but are rank 5, and it takes them over an hour just to get their 5 daily wins.  I'm not going to call out names, but you know who you are.

So even though all smurfing can't be stopped, I think at least a rank 10 lock would help prevent people from smurfing the low ranks.

I would like to give credit to whoever on the "Balance Team" suggested this first.  I can't recall if it was @Lord Gorgon or @Kurt or who.

I am curious as to whether people like these or not. I feel like Alexander especially loves and encourages them on this forum. 🙂

    My opinion?

Of men?  Probably safe for work, though that depends.  Generally, you just know if a picture is porn (or near-porn) or not based on how it makes you feel.

Of women?  If in bra, might be near-porn, but it depends.  In general, there seems to be a lot of anime perving on the SM discord.  Probably need to hire a squad of doges with bats to put people in horny jails.

    Context is everything.

Not like I really care.  This would be one of the reasons I don't participate as much on some discords (other than my crushing college and work schedules).  I'm usually happier when that type of stuff is banished into #anime or #off-topic or some other channel on the discords.

You see, I'd like to recommend this game to random people I encounter.  So long as the game and the forums/discords can keep that stuff separate from most game interaction, I'm fine with that.  I could care less what other people do in private so long as they are not harming me, themselves, or others, etc. (see the laws).  But most of my friends are Christians, and so I like how I can recommend SM to my friends' kids and not worry about pervy content.  Discord is a bit different though.

what module setup can i use?

(pls try not to use L-M modules because the only L-M module i have is an energy storage unit)

I would use at least the equivalent of 3 QCBs and 1 OLP (3 heat engines, 3 energy engines, 1 mass cooling booster, 1 mass regen booster, etc.).  Then I would put at least a defense matrix, or a max protector and 1 platinum, on it, if not more.  The defense matrix / 1 MP + 1 PP is the minimum.  Even better: 3 fortresses and 1 platinum, if it fits.

Here are some ideas I would use if it was me:

By the way, ideally you want 2 physical resistance drainers.  Two for physical because top ranks has people with 180 physical resistance.  So the above two screenshots are the most ideal (#1) versus barely good enough (#2).

Whats better?: Fire, Electric, Mechanical dammage??

Ideally they would all be equal, but right now heat is the #1 element, then physical, and energy sort of needs help.  But it really depends on what you want.  Really, you can beat the entire 1v1 campaign with an Avatar-style boiler (heat mech), so it just depends on what you want.  I'd say try to play what the game gives you.  If you get a bunch of nice energy premium items, try to play energy first.

Another tip for progressing that's going to sound counter-intuitive, but it's true: do NOT food all your items.  Keep at least one of every epic-to-divine and one of every premium item.  If you can't transform something to legendary or mythical, wait.  Don't push forward and sacrifice a good item just to transform another item.

I have recently created an SM padawan clan specifically for helping new players.  Send me a message if you're interested.

Going by this video you have approximately 1 in (5-6) card to be legendary(11/60 in this video). So the legendary chance percentage must lie in range of (16.67%-20%) as 11/60 = 18.33%. Writing from past experience, I would say it is most likely 1 in 5 cards.

Woah now that's interesting thing to note, I didn't really think chance of premium would vary for both base and premium packs but again, they are not known as Premium packs for no reason.

They're definitely not the same.  And that 18.33% is less than 20%, hence I'd rather not tell people directly that "every" premium pack "will" contain a legendary.  I'd rather explain to people that, statistically, not getting a legendary is more likely in a premium pack.  But of course, this is several packs over time, so one needs to remember this before flipping out when you get a premium pack that's all epics 😇

Frantic brute is broken, it actually out-performs Spartan half the time.

    Use one of each.

I agree but if you compare dual Spartan to dual frantic in WU, dual Spartan wins 60% of the time. My conclusion is that Spartan carnage is slightly better. But I think it's good to mix them.

  8. I agree with those who think the mythical option on the gold box should be removed.  I don't want to get a random mythical Archimonde or Hurlbat.  Some have said that it would be wrong to food such useless items, but as a top ranked player with a cramped inventory, I am going to say it's not wrong at all.  You should see what happens when I buy a deal: tons of items get fooded due to cramped storage space.  Like when I finally get a physical fortress, all the epics that I don't need (based on when my inventory fills up) will get fooded to it in the process.

And I have fooded divine scorching feet before also.  If the item is truly useless in SM, i.e. you can't think of anything to use it for and neither can your top ranked buddies, it gets fooded.

I'd rather that mythical be replaced with "guaranteed premium."  So that the premium rate itself is 30%, not the mythical rate.  Therefore if I get Archimonde, it would be as a legendary, meaning I can then use it to myth something else.

Some of us are rolling with an inventory so large that even buying deals can be painful.  Not complaining, just saying.  I think that once a player earns rank 1, their inventory should be unlimited.  I don't think this would affect the player base negatively, as we are seeing top ranked players leave the game.  Sure, I understand that no game can keep people entertained forever (otherwise there wouldn't be so many games out there).  But that would be one way to reward those who have enough longevity in the game that they have reached rank 1.  Reaching rank 1 takes at least a year, even if you are P2W.  You'd have to be $5,000+ P2W to get to rank 1 faster than 1 year (in my opinion).

So yeah, I'm cool with the gold box idea but I would prefer "guaranteed premium" instead of "mythical."
