Range based weapons

I randomly came up with this idea and thought it'd be fun to play.

How about a weapon that can attack on all ranges but the damage depends on the range?

Like it deals 300 damage up close but 100 from far for example.

Lmk if it would fit the game.

A wise noob once said: energy weapons should get nerfed.

is it infinite use?

what's the weight?

does it have backfire?

is there heat and energy versions?

I think that need to increase attack and make different mechanic:

Attack increases not from close range only, from far too, in mid range it gonna get 30-100 damage. This can make it more universal against other weapons.

And yes, this need to has limited uses.
