Also, avoid the Mighty Cannon whenever possible while energy-breaking/shutting Bigboy down in order to ensure that you'll survive long enough to do so.

Lol I think you missed the point, the star for completing the mission on normal is gone while the hard and insane are both there. Never seen that before.
