what? i meant for example if you have 2 explosion resistance, then you get hit by a weapon that removes 3 explosion resistance and you now have -1 explosion resistance, do you take more explosion damage than if you had 0 explosion resistance?

The higher your mechs resistance is the less damage you take. The lower your resistance the more damage you take. Armor annihilators and most weapons can drop your resistance allowing your foe to do more damage.
