How do you gain reputation

I think it's a function of number of posts plus the reactions to them - so if you get upvoted or someone posts a like, your rep increases.

become reputable: give solid advice, be kind and courteous, contribute to discussions, make people laugh, etc.

reputation is defined by google as: 

the beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone or something.

"his reputation was tarnished by allegations of bribery"

just generally make good impressions with people, causing them to like you or your content enough to react positively to it
