Forum Name Limits

is there a specific limit to what can be put into the forum display name box? 

i know cuss words and other racist or inappropriate words aren't allowed, but when i tried to add some carrots to my display name, it gave me an error.

maybe special character are not allowed in the name like " ^ " or " ~ " ?

Edit : when i see you have a special character ( a " _ " ) in your name i think i must be wrong .
