I think the servers for all places far from the USA are down because the european servers are good.

I can't speak for Gato Games, but I'm fairly certain their servers exist only in one place.  I don't think they have multi-nation servers.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I saw people trying to VPN when SM went down, and it didn't do anything for them.  If it was about which country the servers were in, the VPNs would've been successful, but it didn't do anything.
