What should I upgrade/focus on?

Other than the lack of module upgrades what else should I do to make my mech better?

It's an ordinary Scalpel that could only be upgraded to epic unfortunately

I would say upgrade your side weapons. You got decent HP, heat, energy, cooling and regen but only legendary/epic weapons.

focus on modules for now. max them. will take some time but will give better balance. 

Also, making an energy mech, it does require to have enough energy modules to support the mech. 

Both cooling and regeneration are very low missing modules. 

The use of weapons is related to their base support. It is hard to recover from heat and energy attacks.

Alright I already got the Heat Engines both to max and the energy engine.

Although I got a couple of new epic items to use, should I stay with the epic Scalpel or change to "Hot Flash" ? I thought it would be good since it doesn't take any energy and I have a better heat capacity now

you can but weight will be different.
