SawzAll got a reaction from OKI DOKI in Drop Rate of Fortune Boxes
This doesn't help much. Where did you get them? Did they come from the random periodic ones? From missions? Which missions?

SawzAll got a reaction from VB in Further Research on FB chances per Campaign: buildings, enemies, chances
All,
We had recently put out the research in my clan on the Fortune Box (FB) rates per different campaign missions. At the time, we pointed out that your highest chances for getting a fortune boxes come from 3V3 Frozen Abyss (normal) and 1V1 Overlord's Den in normal and insane modes (all 12%).
However, finally I've had time to run some other numbers for those who are looking for specific applications, using only missions that will drop FBs:
FB Chances: If you want the highest odds of getting a FB in one tank of fuel, farm 3V3 Dry Lands, Insane. XP: If you want the max experience for your fuel, 2V2 Danger Zone, Insane. Building Quests: If you want the most buildings to destroy, like for the special quests, these 3 missions have the max buildings per tank of fuel: 2V2 Frozen Abyss Normal, 3V3 Silent Waters Normal, or 1V1 Frozen Abyss Normal. Enemies Quests: If you want the max number of enemies destroyed, for special quests, 1V1 Scavenger Pass Normal. Gold: If you simply want to maximize your gold farming, 2V2 Overlord's Den Insane. I would like to thank @Knae gae ear for the inspiration to run the numbers on this, as well as the many other people in my clan who helped me run the massive FB chance study.

I will not be showing every single build that can beat the campaign levels, as that would take forever. I am thinking my advice will revolve around:
1) The types of enemies you meet (i.e. huggers probably necessitate hammer/shotgun type builds to keep them away)
2) Their weaknesses (i.e. something generic like "weak to physical" or whatever, based on their stats)
Because, like you said, campaigns can be done by anything, so there are likely many builds.
But as you get into the more difficult 3v3 stuff, you can't just use any build. Indeed, I prefer to farm using all avatar boiler types, but those drop off in power after about 2v2 or 3v3 frozen abyss.
And mine will be more like generic advice, i.e. build like this if you want to farm the mission, not specific. In this game, when you get specific, people pitch a fit and start arguing over specifics.
As well, if I give specific builds that work, I may take away someone's entertainment in figuring out how to beat those levels.
UPDATE: I am currently putting all the missions in the proper order, left to right. You may want to click refresh the next couple times you surf to the link I provided.
UPDATE: Ok, mini-maps added and the whole thing should be more or less in the order of the missions from left to right. Enjoy!

Yes but in this case I wanted a slightly different product. If I use content or ideas from someone, I'll cite them.

Thanks bro. I believe for the next phase, which is to include some sort of brief notes about the mechs in the campaign that the person will end up facing, I might want to include notes on some, like "the mechs in this mission have triple crimson rapture" or "dual sword mechs" etc. so that people who are building teams for this know whether to include hammer builds, etc.

All,
It is my honor and privilege to present to you the SM Instrumentation Project. (Yes, it's an Evangelion reference.) Some of us wanted to be able to look at what enemies we would likely face in the campaign missions, so that we could configure our campaign builds before clicking the Go button. So we took a screenshot of basically every campaign mission, 1V1, 2V2, and 3V3.
Future plans are to incorporate tips on how to survive them (i.e. maybe a screenshot of the infamous triple crimson rapture enemies or whatever).
I would like to thank Maroon Leopard and Zho for their contributions! And thank you, @Alexander for your permission.

SawzAll got a reaction from OKI DOKI in Good mech Designs For beginners
This one isn't very good. First, that drone is not good. Second, usually you don't need Savagery. Third, I thought this was for beginners: why are you building with heat monkey and triple fortress? It feels a bit confusing.
This one is not very good because 1) iron plate is almost not worth it for the weight and 2) this leads to a range 3 "hole" where you may need to spend a movement due to being at range 3 with only one weapon (corrupt light) left. It would be easier to just do double corrupt light, which is still newbie friendly. Also, I don't recommend savior resistance for the arena (use for campaign instead).
Here's my take on beginner friendly. All of these have no premium items, so they are very accessible.
Wanna-be avatar boiler:
Energy:
(You can do dual malice if you want.)
Heat Damage:
Basic physical non-premium:
Like I said, none of these use premiums (ignore the utility ones and imagine using non-premium).
Some guidance for new players as well, since we run a padawan clan:
I don't use savior resistance in the arena and I don't recommend it. If you get a max protector and you have a monkey torso, use that. I did the stats tons of times and, if you have absolutely no premium resistance, monkey torso beats other non-premium torsos. If you get a LPV or MPV and then a defense matrix, use that over monkey. Or LPV/MPV + max protector + platinum. The builds above are just patterns. You can modify them slightly. I will never recommend dual frantic. It's low effort, cheap, and everyone hates it for a reason. Spartan + frantic is tolerable. If you are playing the arena and energy and boiler mechs keep kicking your butt, the solution is to upgrade your modules. We all went through this, just suck it up. Repulsors are like wasting a turn. They are rarely effective, and depending on them will get you destroyed in the arena. They're mainly for scope builds in my opinion. Decent builds will have teleport, hook, charge, etc. so don't depend on repulsors if you have other weapons that do decent damage to range abuse other mechs. Again, these are patterns. For instance, yes, I know face shocker and heat point are not necessarily the best drones. But for heat and energy, the top 3 drones are all premiums. For example, if you have windforge, use that over face shocker (more drain). I prioritize winning versus heat and energy over winning against physical because you're more likely to run into heat, and adding energy means you're probably good against 2/3 of the mechs you will see in the arena. As for the wanna-be avatar boiler, if you pay attention to what you're doing and use good tactics, it is an excellent mech until you get to top ranks, but even then, it's still useful in RAID (the pieces of it) and campaign missions (I farm 2v2 lost valley and final bosses on insane using the more META version of the Avatar boiler). -
SawzAll reacted to OKI DOKI in Good mech Designs For beginners
In this case is a tuff design.
Your heat cap is too low and you're cooling it it worse for current weapons set including energy base.
The mech is in need of energy to use weapons except bomb, pizza cutter and drone. The mech it is more designed for mid-range even close range with legs, cutter and murmur can't help even primum hook.
First, pizza does have backfire and heat cost making impossible to be use with that heat cap and cooling.
Second, bomb not just affect the opponent, but because the power to overheat is high, you will cook yourself right in the spot and you do not have colling and cap to recover so you are dead.
3er, energy mech will stay away but will drain you and they normally does have decent heat caps so you are dead overheated and no energy to use the other weapons
4th, your side and top weapon depend on energy and won't recover after drain plus those weapons are heat weapons that will overheat you with the use of them.

SawzAll got a reaction from Kendall Passionate Polaris in The existence of frantic brute makes me want to quit
No I'm not. With all due respect, this excuse is the exact stupid argument of whoever invented the weapon, because even if you create such a weapon for, as they claimed, "F2P to get into top ranks," everyone just begins to use it and it really doesn't matter any more. Add it being OP and it breaks the game's philosophy.
(Note, I am not calling you stupid, I'm saying whoever invented the weapon, if that was their logic, that logic is stupid and broken. It's not logical at all. It's power creep, which is a dumb concept that many gamers hate.)
In fact this is the exact reason, psychologically, people quit at top ranks. They get there with their frantic cancer, thinking when they make it they will finally be happy with the game, then they realize top ranks is not a walk in the park, then they quit. And another reason that contributes to it is that they will never get top 10 with dual frantic cancer (by itself) and so they stagnate at top ranks because now they don't know what to do when they get there. Their inventory isn't deep enough and so they get locked into dual frantic for the foreseeable future.
This game is a vast top ranks account graveyard. Top ranks accounts that have been abandoned are given and sold (not by me, mind you) and acquiring one isn't difficult. It's a sad state of affairs.
Then of course one of the favorite builds of tabbers and hackers was frantic cancer, for various reasons.
I am not insulting anyone, nor the game. But people have been complaining about how stupid a concept this weapon is from the beginning. I've been playing 2 years and I hear it over and over. It limits creativity because you must build a mech that can defeat this build, rather than building more freely because more creative builds might get their butts handed to them in the arena. If you have to build a certain way to compensate for a broken OP weapon in the game, it's a problem.
We can disagree, and I still have the utmost respect for you. But the weapon is broken and too strong. It should get nerfed to the point where it's identical to spartan carnage, just 2 shots instead of spartan's 3. That way spartan, which is a premium, will BE premium compared to frantic cancer. As is, it's barely 1% better in the arena, and in some ways inferior due to dual frantic's nova damage.
Take a game like Dungeons and Dragons. Players and DMs complain about broken things that cause high amounts of nova damage, like frantic. Nova damage being rapid damage.
But who are we kidding? This game is already very unrealistic because mechs move around. In this game there's very little movement possible, which basically locks you into being stuck in a sideways scroller with frantic. You can't move to throw off aim. You can't dodge or go behind cover. You're just stuck. Good luck dodging frantic cancer with top rockets like distance shredder and superb charge, etc. If they get lucky with RNG you're just toast and there's almost nothing you can do about it because they can also bring utilities and match your movement.

Nope. Rank 2 and I hardly play because my life is busy. You see dual frantics in rank 1. And all a dual frantic player needs is luck and it won't matter how much skill you claim to have. If RNG smiles on them, they will win over you 99% of the time. Which is why it needs a nerf.
And the fact that people have been complaining about this weapon for years tells me you're not listening to the community.

I've spent about $1,000 total on this game over the course of 2 years.
I've seen the promise of balancing frantic brute but the numbers that it was assigned when it was "balanced" actually make it more unbalanced (i.e. less random). You can waltz into the arena with an almost completely divine, almost completely premium team you spend untold hours perfecting and they can destroy you just by basically mashing buttons.
And before you say it, no, I'm not building counters specific to frantic brute because my luck dictates that the moment I do, I meet the worst possible teams that don't use frantic brute. I always build balanced and I try to build META.
Until frantic brute is ACTUALLY balanced, I am done spending any money on this game. The way to do this is very freaking simple: make it a 2 shot Spartan Carnage. That way Spartan is significantly better (you know, like, PREMIUM?!).
To those who would say that this might piss off many players, honestly every "balance" update we've had pissed off someone, so it doesn't matter. It's not like there aren't a dozen other things about this game that are freaking annoying anyways.
And by the way, if you wonder how I almost never end up at rank 1 with a rank 1 inventory, it's because I simply don't feel like this game is worth hours of my time. I do my five daily, that's it.
So there it is. I said it. Until that item is balanced, I'm done spending money on SM. This isn't an ultimatum, just an expression of my decision. To be honest, stuff like this makes me feel like I'm an idiot for spending money on this game. So maybe if that's true and I'm an idiot for spending money on SM, I should wise up and stop spending money on this game. Pretty easy solution.

My opinion, if you need basically everything and especially arena coins, this is your deal. If you have at least 2 full fortress mechs and need random stuff that usually isn't in a deal, this is for you. For those who need fortresses or specific items, probably wait.
