Not a Magma Blast or Abomination, but it's a worthy drop, nonetheless. I might be able to conjure up an electric build soon.

Rank 12 box on Ashen Heart. I'm seriously starting to think that my alt's challenging my main in premium count at this point.

I agree. Starting for the first time or starting a new account is awfully hard. the game gives crappy drops on a regular basis, let alone in rank 25-18. Lower ranks see dual corrupt light as an easy item to get that does a lot of heat damage, giving them the upper hand. people should just make dual malice instead since its such a good build

    What a curious little weapon.

Welp, anyway, there's only one way to find out why this piece of curiosity rivals the tyrant of long range energy-free warfare and I'm fully intent on putting it through all of its paces.
Time to see if its status of being Burning Shower's nemesis lives up to the hype it bears.

... Via countless cases of campaign bot abuse, of course, because those things are always a reliable source of consistency since they're too lazy to change anything about their strategies.

Stats are the prime reason why it's barely usable in the top ranks. While explosive resistance does cut Corrupt Light base damage significantly, Corrupt Light isn't about explosive damage (Dawnblaze exists for that "3-6 infinite use explosive weapon" role).
A target with high resistances can still be taken out if their cooling isn't able to take the punishment or their cap is low enough to where they'll be struggling to fight back without overheating or shutting down in the process and losing valuable damage opportunities in the process.
However, with dual modules, mechs can have good stats, HP,  and resistances simultaneously, which are detriments to boilers as a whole since they aren't damage-based (their damage can be tanked easily), they can't resistance-break per shot (most boiler weapons do cap or cooling damage, which does absolutely nothing to lower target resistance), and targets with high heat stats can easily brush off the heat damage that they receive (rounded mechs with regular heat mods have decent heat stats but very moderate HP, so base damage from boiler attacks could actually kill them if they're heat-stunned enough; Heat Counters, on the other hand.. Yeah, boilers can't do anything to those things, even if the counter has regular mods).
So, Corrupt Light is usable but, like the other used-to-be-reliable-in-arena boiler weapons, dual mods made it obsolete as a standalone boiler weapon in the higher ranks.
Lack of consideration or simply because the drop chances of E-M stat modules are lower than the drop chances of Nightfall for low level players.
I mean, seriously, what's up with drop rates making those items rare to where you'll likely get your first E-M stat mod around the midway point of level 60 or 70, with that first E-M stat mod not being an engine or a booster but rather a Combined Storage Unit?

    Nice one.
Soon, you'll be able to farm Insane for gold on a regular basis.
It looks like an alternative version of an ORB (Overcharged Rocket Battery) Jumper, with Explosive Retreat instead of ORB.
This is the ORB Jumper loadout that I run, by the way.

ORB Jumpers can come in several different styles.. But they aren't exactly cheap to build. You need plenty of HP, heat mods, and some form of resistance (if you have the standard amount of HP for one) in order to make it work. The build also needs Reckoning if you want the build to be energy-free and ORB-comboable simultaneously.

Tactisoft is still a thing but they've moved on to better games since SuperMechs was overcrowding their schedule.
And yes, they're making a sequel to BattleDawn, which is why they dropped SuperMechs from their game catalog, so that's why Gato Games is now in full control of SuperMechs... While the automated event schedule by Tactisoft is going to expire on the 18th of February.

I had a feeling that the damage infliction was too sophisticated for SuperMechs. Though I guess having interesting thoughts of visual bugs beats trying to think about them realistically.
There's a limit on how many times you can think about something in SM until it gets old or loss of interest forces attention toward something else, after all.

Note: There's a TL; DR below, so read that if you don't want to read the post.

The empty mech icon is likely a remnant of the 6 mech layout system from an earlier version of Reloaded, where Hollow Spectral Armor and Claw were still new items.
The 6 Mech Layout system is basically like the Team system we have now, but instead of having a list of customizable loadouts, the system was comprised of 6 mech slots in a 3x2 grid accessible from the Arena screen (represented by a blue button with a mech icon and a left and right arrow).
The mech slots were split 3-and-3 between two types, active mech (blue) and standby mech (grey). Mechs that you want to use would go into the active slots and mechs that you want on standby in case you had to switch an active mech out for something else would go into the standby slots.
Not all of the slots were immediately accessible, by the way, because the inactive slots were locked and could only be unlocked if you reached a certain player level milestone, hence why that icon appears on the level up screen of certain levels.
However, that system was discarded and replaced by the Loadout system, the "Call of Duty Create-A-Class for Mechs" system we have now. Yes, it's an old system and it hasn't been changed or updated since its introduction.

TL;DR - That icon is not a bug or a visual glitch; The icon is an asset from the "beta version" of the in-game Loadout system. No one knows why the icon wasn't removed when the system was replaced and no one will likely ever find out why.
I guess Tacticsoft (the ex-owners of SuperMechs that came before Gato and were responsible for the creation of Reloaded) had a knack for leaving assets of removed features in the game for.. Some reason.

Corrupt Light isn't bad, it's just that it's an elemental weapon.
The majority of elemental weapons are weak to things known as premium dual modules.
Corrupt Light is one of those elemental weapons.

Turns out Heat Charge exists and has been used by campaign bots this whole time.
None of us were trained to deal with this kind of threat.
